Arlington Animal Services has 5 cat adoption kennels inside the PetSmart located in the Highlands Shopping Center ! Cats can be adopted from PetSmart anytime the store is open which is 9am-9pm Monday-Saturday and 10am- 7pm on Sundays ! Feral Cat Sunday
December 19th The first 20 feral cats to arrive to Arlington Animal Services between 8- 9am on Sunday , December 19th are eligible for this free spay / neuter clinic . Only Arlington feral cats will be accepted and must be in a trap . Feral kittens must be at least three months old . For more information you can visit our

Events Stray Pets
Arlington Animal Services continues to be operating near or at capacity . Did you know stray pets are held for a period of 3 or 7 days ? A dog or cat is held for 3 days if they are not altered , not wearing a collar with identification or they do not have a microchip . Otherwise they are held for 7 days the shelter is open . If your pet goes missing please visit the stray pets website often and as quickly as possible .

Pit Bull Awareness Day ! Each year , October 24th features a day of appreciation and education designed to change perceptions and stereotypes about bully breed dogs which are commonly referred to as " Pit bulls ". Dogs recognized as pit bulls are actually cross breeds of bulldogs and terriers like boxers , American bulldogs , bull terriers , etc . Pit bull terriers make-up the vast majority of dogs found in shelters . Arlington Animal Services recommends all pet owners educate themselves prior to adopting a dog of any breed . It is important to know their history , temperament , and any physical or mental requirements special to that dog . It is also important to socialize your dog appropriately so they can grow into a confident , well-adjusted adult dog without fear or anxiety .
Bella was recently surrendered to the shelter when her previous owner could no longer take care of her . She got some glamour shots and found a new family a few days later !
