Ayres and Colorado Main Street won the 2019 Colorful Colorado Award from Downtown Colorado , Inc ., for their work on the Pickaxe Project . The project also won a merit award in the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado ’ s 2020 Engineering Excellence Awards competition .

s Dorothy Gale lamented at the ‌ close of the “ The Wizard of Oz ,” ‌ there ’ s no place like home .
Angie Cue would have to agree .
The Lamar , Colorado , native moved away from her hometown for college , marriage , and a career in a bigger city but has found her way back .
“ We knew we wanted to move back to Lamar eventually but made the move sooner than we had planned because we missed family and craved wide open spaces , a slower-paced lifestyle , and living in a community where you know people by name ,” said Cue , now executive director of Lamar Partnership Inc ., and community development manager for the City of Lamar . “ Lamar has always been home to me , and I ’ m grateful that I can contribute back to the city where I was born , raised , and love .”
