Bench Bar Award Winners

Tradition will once again take a back seat to safety . For the second time in the history of our Bar Association , the Installation of our Officers and Board of Directors will not take place at its traditional banquet . This event has been hosted at The Breakers ’ Hotel for decades and normally draws a crowd of nearly 400 people , which would not permit the desired standards of social distancing . This difficult decision will not interfere with the Installation of your elected leaders .

The Officers and Board of Directors will take their Oath of Office , administered by the Honorable Jonathan Gerber , Appellate Judge in the Fourth District Court of Appeals on June 16th .

The Bench Bar Kick-Off event was held on April 6 at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach . Congratulations to Sia Baker-Barnes recipient of the Judge Edward Rodgers Diversity Award , Amy Borman recipient of the Judge Meenu Sasser Mentorship Award , and Lawonda Warren recipient of the Sidney A . Stubbs Professionalism Award .

In lieu of purchasing a banquet ticket , we are asking members to participate in a fundraiser for the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County . The impact of the Covid-19 virus has affected many families in our local community . Legal Aid has seen an increase in calls from people requesting help with eviction and mortgage foreclosure , domestic violence and employment issues .
