The SFPUC’s main water source comes
from the Hetch Hetchy Reservior. The
Hetch Hetchy water is supplemented
with water from six regional reservoirs:
Calaveras, San Antonio, Lower Crystal
Springs, Upper Crystal Springs and
Pilarcitos. In addition, small amounts of
groundwater are blended in to the
water we serve in San Francisco. This is
how we deliver some of the nation’s
finest best-quality drinking water to
our 2.7 million customers.

Are you prepared
for the next natural disaster?
Store at least three days of drinking water for
everyone in your family, including pets. We
recommend storing at least one gallon per
person per day in original or food-grade
plastic containers and replacing them every six
months. You can also treat your water by
boiling it or disinfecting it with regular
household bleach (eight drops per gallon).
