Oracle Expanding

racle, the database and enterprise software giant, has announced it will be launching two new Solution Engineering

Centers to build new cutting-edge technologies around cloud computing, artificial intelligence and augmented and virtual reality. Oracle is calling this expansion a startup within the organization.

"We are building the Oracle Solution Engineering Centers where engineers and technologists will develop next generation cloud-based solutions to help customers become more digital and transition to the cloud." - Hamza Jahangir, vice president, Cloud Platform Sales Engineering

The new organizations will be based in North America and will focus on developing VR apps for the travel/resort industries, AI apps for the retail industry and custom cloud applications for many existing Oracle customers.

SQL Server 2017 adding Python Support

icrosoft's next version of SQL Server will add Python as a supported language. This will allow users to run Python scripts

natively within SQL Server, using any Python function, without needing to export data externally. No previous Python installation is required as it part of the SQL Server 2017 setup.

Python integration will be supported across Windows Enterprise and Express Editions. Currently the support will only be available for Windows users as Linux users continue to wait for the previously announced SQL Server version for Linux. You can read more of the Python integration here. ■
