SERMON OF THE YEAR RETURNS THIS SUMMER
Four exceptional preachers have been shortlisted for a national preaching event
Sermon of the Year - the by-product of a unique
collaboration between Preach magazine and the
London School of Theology (LST). The finals of Sermon
of the Year 2019 will take place on Thursday 20th June
2019.
Preach magazine and LST invited entrants from across
the country to submit a written sermon of no more
than 1500 words in keeping with the theme ‘The Power
of Love’. Entries came from preachers as young as 19
through to 83 years old. The top four final submissions
were written by:
1) Emma Ash, London
2) Steve Collinson, Northumberland
3) Olivia Haines, Lancaster
4) Clare Masters, Kent

The finalists are set to preach their sermons in front of a diverse panel of judges and
a live audience. The judges on the night are: Dr Krish Kandiah – Founding Director of
charity Home for Good, Academic and Theologian; Dr Chloe Lynch – Academic and
Practitioner; Rev Anne Calver – Minister and Author and Antony Billington – Head of
Theology, LICC.
The event will be hosted by Amelia Gosal, Chief Executive LWPT (Publishers of Preach
magazine) and Dr. Graham Twelftree, Acting Principal of LST. (Continues overleaf)
