YOUTH & TEEN Winter Youth Basketball League & Free Clinics Held at Ackerman SFC & Local Schools Grade: 1-8 (Register as an individual) Our philosophy is to provide a friendly atmosphere and to teach the rules and skills of basketball, as well as good sportsmanship. The league is designed to ensure that all players have an equal opportunity to participate in games and practices no matter their skill level. Games and practices are held at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, as well as local schools depending on your volunteer coach’s schedule and facility availability. All participants receive a reversible jersey. Min/Max: 40/100. If interested in becoming a volunteer coach, complete the Youth Basketball Volunteer Coach Form at gepark.org/youth-basketball. (ch) REGISTRATION DEADLINE: November 1 COACHES’ MEETING: November 19 PLAYER EVALUATIONS (3rd-8th Grade Only): November 23 GAME SCHEDULES RELEASED: Week of December 9 PRACTICE BEGINS: Week of January 6 GAMES BEGIN: January 18 5TH & 6TH GRADE This league places more emphasis on the team as a whole. This is accomplished by the introduction of set “plays” to increase the player’s ability to adapt to game situations. Players will be asked to attend an evaluation session and will be drafted to teams by coaches. CODE GRADE R/NR FEE 115034 Boys 5th/6th Grade $120/$170 115035 Girls 5th/6th Grade $120/$170 7TH & 8TH GRADE These leagues focus on the basic fundamentals of basketball. Practices and games are structured around skill development and having fun. All games are officiated in an instructional atmosphere. Players are placed on teams according to their schools. Player/Coach requests are not accepted. This league takes all of the elements that have been learned and tests all of your skills. The program starts as a review of the knowledge and skills obtained throughout the years. Junior high athletes may participate but must be present at both the practices and games throughout the entire season. Players will be asked to attend an evaluation session and will be drafted to teams by coaches. 7th/8th Grade Girls will participate in an inter-village league and will follow a slightly different schedule. New: Teams will play a seven-game season and compete in a single elimination playoff at the end of the season.
