Goldman Sachs CEO backs new LSEG chief The 20-year Goldman Sachs veteran banker appointed as chief executive officer at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has received the backing of former boss, Lloyd Blankfein. David Schwimmer was most recently global head of market structure and global head of metals and mining in investment banking at Goldman Sachs. He began his career in the fi- nancial institutions group at Goldman, focusing on market structure, brokerage and trading. Schwimmer also formerly served as chief of staff to Blankfein, now CEO of Goldman, when he was president and chief operating officer. In a statement, Blankfein said of Schwimmer’s appointment: “I have worked closely with David over his career at Goldman Sachs. He has great expertise as an advisor to large companies, and he has been a terrific partner and friend. London Stock Exchange Group is fortunate to have him on board.” The departure of LSEG’s former CEO, Xavier Rolet, was shrouded in controversy after he announced his intention to leave in October last year. Schwimmer was named CEO of LSEG on 13 April.
