What has been one of your most memorable parenting moments so far whilst juggling work-life (the one where you felt your capabilities even surprised yourself)? It’s amazing that as a working mother, you just do what you have to do. I’ve had radio interviews while feeding Neve and going from delivering high profile speeches then coming off stage for the important task of changing a nappy. Based on your experience so far, what piece of advice would you offer Neve as a future successful working mother? Enjoy the little moments. They are gone so quick but can offer the most fulfilment, so cherish every one. What words of wisdom do you have to new mothers wishing to re-enter the work force or continue on their career path? Guilt is not your friend, and it’s a waste of emotion. So try to embrace it and enjoy both roles as a mother and your career. New Year, New Me! Fun times it will be... By taking on the role to lead our country, she became the world's youngest female head of government, at age 37. Giving birth to a daughter on 21 June 2018, Jacinda became the world's second elected head of government to give birth while in office. How does this multi tasking, inspirational powerhouse manage to do two of the most important roles at the same time? You have one of the most demanding jobs of all, what drives you to lead our country while being a new mother? During her extremely busy schedule, Jacinda takes a quick moment to chat with us about new motherhood as a Prime Minister. The pressure to balance home life and work life can be difficult, I confess that in fact I’m not good at it but Clarke and I divide jobs which seems to be keeping some sort of manageable balance so far. I also find the time once Neve is in bed is ideal time to focus on work. All working parents experience the pressure and stress involved in maintaining a work-life schedule. My drive may seem a bit clichéd but leaving something behind for Neve that I can be proud of gives me the determination to work hard for what I believe in – just like any parent. How do you try to find a good balance in your highly demanding schedule? What do you love most about being a new mother? That’s easy, the smiles, and when Neve giggles. After a challenging day, that beautiful sound has the ability to lift anyones spirits in that moment. What would a typical 24 hours involve in your household routine? A typical day would consist of 5am starts (Neve and me!), 3 naps (Neve, not me). I’m in meetings all day but I’m home for her bedtime routine. I’ll get onto more work at night and Clarke is usually up with Neve if she wakes up. Its a busy routine but most importantly we make the most of the time we have together.
