Bracewell Adds Holland & Knight Health Pro In San Antonio

Law360 ( April 19 , 2023 , 4:08 PM EDT ) -- Bracewell LLP is growing its team with the addition of a Holland & Knight LLP health care expert as a partner in its San Antonio office , the firm announced Wednesday .
Carrie Douglas , who most recently was a partner at Holland & Knight LLP , following its merger with Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis LLP , joins the Bracewell health care and life sciences practice . She negotiates insurance reimbursements on behalf of her provider clients , which include hospital systems , ambulatory surgery centers and large physician offices . She also resolves overpayment and recoupment demands on behalf of providers .

During a Wednesday morning interview , Douglas told Law360 that Bracewell has such an excellent reputation , she ' s long dreamed of working for the firm .
" I ' m pinching myself [ being here ]," Douglas said . " If you had asked me in 2002 [ while in law school ], where did I want to work the rest of my career , it would have been here . I never thought I ' d get to walk these hallowed halls . It is such an honor and a joy ."
She said she has long been impressed by Bracewell ' s health care practice and was even more impressed after meetings with Wilson G . Jones , chair of Bracewell ' s health care and life sciences practice , and his team .
" They ' re really a dynamic health care group and I was excited to find another home that really embraced this health care world in the manner that they do ," she said . " To me , one of the biggest draws was finding other like-minded people who enjoy this payor world . This is such a weird , strange community so to find other folks who enjoy being on this side of the equation is exciting . It ' s so dang exciting to get to be in this position and to get to join such a wonderful team doing similar work to what I ' m doing ."
Jones was equally impressed and said Douglas will be a good addition to the team .
" Carrie is a highly regarded practitioner whose wealth of experience brings additional strength to the array of services we currently provide to clients ," he said in a statement .
Bracewell managing partner Gregory M . Bopp said they are excited to welcome Douglas .
