Anthony Luzio finds out why we
may have already reached peak
fossil-fuel demand – and what
this would mean for the oil & gas
majors
Stranded
Kingsmill Bond is keen
to stress he does not
have an environmental
background. When asked
to describe how he came to work
at independent thinktank Carbon
Tracker, the strategist says, “it is
slightly embarrassing because I’m a
fish out of water in this world”.
“For my sins, I’ve not been a
particularly green person. And no
doubt I will pay for that in purgatory
one day. I’m just a finance guy.”
This should make his forecasts
about the future of fossil fuels even
more worrying for investors with
exposure to this industry – his
argument about why it is in trouble
is not based on ethics or some sort of
moral responsibility to keep carbon
