Brother Rice To Become a Seminary
Administration, Board of Directors decide to change focus
By Luke Washe
Chieftain Staff
Our Brother Rice logo includes
the Latin phrase, “Sanctus per
Scientiam.” Anyone who has had
Mr. Sanders knows that this means,
“holiness through knowledge.” As
Brother Rice students, we understand
that, in order to achieve our pillars
of Reason, Intelligence, Cheer, and
Entertainment, we need to seek the
wisdom of Christ.
Over the past few years, there are
concerns that we are slowly drifting
away from our Christian Brother pil-
lars. The only question now is, what
shall we do about it?
For an answer, our administra-
tors turned to a fellow Catholic high
school St. Donovan’s in Springfi eld.
In the past few years, St. Donovan’s
students formed gangs, much like
our Band of Brothers system, with lit-
tle law enforcement. The St. Donovan
administrators decided that continuing to
teach the students to act like Christ was
unsuccessful, but making them one with
Christ was effortless. The solution, they
Quora
decided, was to transform their school
into a seminary, designed to prepare its
students for priesthood.
Brother Rice administrators have had
long talks over crackers and cheese
with St. Donovan’s Principal, Gary
Neighbors. Mr. O became con-
vinced that Neighbors had devel-
oped a brilliant plan, and it was
decided then and there that Brother
Rice would follow in St. Donovan’s
footsteps.
Therefore, beginning in 2022-
23, Brother Rice High School is to
become Michigan’s 16th Catholic
Seminary. The new school will be
called The League of Extraordinary
Seminarians.
The idea was announced and
agreed upon by the Board of Direc-
tors at their meeting last month.
The faculty was notifi ed shortly
after and, sadly, only four teachers
remain: Miss Nuss, Mrs. Chumi-
ecki, Mr. Sanders, and Mr. Walen-
tovicz.
Opinions vary on this decision.
“It’s no good,” said Science
teacher and Rice alum, Mr. Riker.
“It’s good,” said Mr. Sanders.

Rice announces valet service for students
By Joey Farrar

All students know the feeling of arriv-
ing to school at 7:47 thinking you’ll just
make it to fi rst hour on time, but then
you can’t fi nd any parking spots. Well,
Brother Rice has come up with a solu-
tion. There will now be a valet in the

Brother Rice parking lot.
Yes, you heard that right. There are
too many students arriving at school
after fi rst hour, and this is the only way
to prevent that from happening.
It will take effect in the fall and you
will be able to give your car to the valet
