The Christmas tree and decorations have been packed away for another year . New Year ’ s Eve celebrations have passed . We are now well into January 2024 !
Happy New Year to all the readers of this wonderful magazine !
Many families with children will be looking for ideas of fun activities to keep them occupied and a lot will not be able to afford a holiday away , so finding local , free activities is always a bonus .
This month , our focus is on the importance of having quality time together , regardless of age . 2023 was such a hectic year , plus the impacts of COVID , local flood and cost of living pressures . In response to all this , we are encouraging families to consider activities that do not require technology or money . Let ’ s get back to some “ old school ” fun !
A good place to start is our local parks . Create an adventure , and schedule a visit to parks you haven ’ t been to and with different types of equipment . Take a packed lunch or snack , some bottled water and you can be in for a ton of fun !

Our parks are free to use , and with unique designs in each one families can create a fantastic schedule of adventure . Throw in some bush walking , bikes or scooters , and you can really fill in the days with active and passive play .
Why not get a group of people / families together and turn it into an event ?
Parks don ’ t need to be a place just for young families ,
AFFORDABLE FUN - RETURN TO NATURE
but a place for community connection for all ages and abilities . Parks and green spaces are proven to have therapeutic benefits for us humans .
