Hey Y ’ all ,
I hope you had a wonderful fall season and are excited , yet ready for winter to come . I think we can all agree that the set of Limousin cattle that were brought to the fall majors was exceptional . While tailing cattle in the ring in Kansas City , and watching NAILE online , I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of cattle , and people that represented the Limousin breed . I ’ m relieved that our breeders always keep a progressive mindset and continue to make their cattle better every year !
Earlier this fall , I transitioned to a new chapter in my life ; I moved away from home in Miami , Oklahoma . While only two hours away in Stillwater , it was still an adjustment in my life .
Back in July of this year , if you would have asked me if I was ready for the upcoming fall semester at Oklahoma state , I would have possibly screamed , “ Yes !” And don ’ t get me wrong , I ’ m oh so thankful for my time spent in Stillwater so far . But aren ’ t all adjustments somewhat difficult ? An adjustment is technically defined as , “ The process of adapting or becoming used to a new situation .” This definition aligns perfectly with what I have faced this fall . On August 16th , I was faced with trying to adjust to the ropes of living in Stillwater . Whether that was a trash truck arriving at 7:30 in the morning on Mondays , the completely full parking lots on the first day of school , or simply trying to find my way through the Walmart on 6th avenue , I was plain uncomfortable for the first few weeks . But now , after settling in , I am enjoying and loving every minute of it , and I ’ m glad to call Stillwater “ home .”
Adjustments in life can and will be uncomfortable , just like going to the chiropractor for a back adjustment , but how we recover will set us apart . As young people , it is crucial to learn through the adjustment periods because being uncomfortable grows an individual . As you continue throughout the new year , I challenge you to try new things , step out of your comfort zone and grow as an individual .
I can ’ t believe it is almost time for the second annual Cattleman ’ s Congress in Oklahoma City . I am partial to the fairgrounds in OKC and to the folks who put this show on , but in my opinion , it will be a stellar show . I look forward to seeing everyone in Oklahoma City , but until then keep working hard and being grateful for the uncomfortable moments .
