Letter From The Editor
Clinical Coordinator Dear Readers,
321-433-7312 As the spring semester is winding down and coming to completion, the senior class
here at the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is busy preparing for and taking the
ARDMS registry tests in abdomen and obstetrics. We, juniors, are preparing to take our
first board registry test which is for ultrasound physics and instrumentation. We are all
a bit nervous about it, but one thing that really helps is the wonderful advice we have
been given from our mentors in the senior class. My senior mentor, Morgan Quinn,
has encouraged me to devote a bit of time each day to studying the material to ensure
that I have a good grasp of all the concepts. She has also advised me to be prepared to
answer different types of questions, and to answer all the ones I feel confident I know
before going back through to answer the ones I may need to really think about. Knowing
that she is about to graduate and will no longer be my mentor, she has given me a bit
of advice for the boards I will take next year at this time. She told me that it is very
important to study not only the basic anatomy and physiology of each organ and body
system, but to also learn the lab values and pathologies associated with them. She said
that I should learn the sonographic appearance of the pathologies and the symptoms
that the patient may present with. I know that she also wants to share the strategies
that helped her successfully pass her board exams so that I may succeed. My classmates
have had great advice from their mentors as well, and I know we are all very grateful.
Soon we will be the mentors to the new class beginning in the fall, and with the fine
example our mentors have set, we will be great!
