Volunteer !
In-person volunteer orientations have returned at AAS and Summer is the perfect time to join our team . With so many adoptable dogs and cats in need , the shelter needs more help than ever to provide extra enrichment and love to the animals in our care . If you are interested in joining the team , we encourage you to complete the volunteer application , which can be found here .
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT ...
Foster with Arlington Animal Services !
If you are looking for a fun way to help a homeless pet in need , consider fostering with Arlington Animal Services . Foster animals from our shelter include , kittens or puppies too young to be in the shelter environment , short term emergency neonate kittens , adult dogs who need a break from the shelter environment , or pets with special needs . The average stay in a foster home is two to four weeks . However , some foster pets may stay a few days or longer than four weeks . Arlington Animal Services also offers a stray pet foster program . If you have found a stray pet in the City of Arlington and are able to keep them at home , you can bring them to the shelter where an AAS team member will scan for a microchip , vaccinate the pet , and take their picture for our stray pets website . The stray pet in this foster program will still be held for the appropriate 3 or 7 day stray hold period . After the hold period is over , the dog or cat can return to the shelter to be evaluated for our adoption program .
