April is National Lawn Care Month
Spring is the perfect time to harness the public ’ s excitement about the outdoors and remind them about the benefits of a well-caredfor lawn .
For decades , NALP has celebrated National Lawn Care Month in April , using it as a time to spread the word about the benefits of healthy lawns and turfgrass . Why is this so important ? Well , it will come as no surprise that there is a lot of misinformation on the internet and social media and it ’ s only getting worse .
Now it ’ s more important than ever to counter some of the misinformation by sharing the facts about health lawns and landscapes . And who better than you to spread the word ? You are the experts ; you understand that grass sequesters carbon , produces oxygen , cools the surrounding areas , and helps to slow runoff .
Despite , at times , being maligned by the media , we also know that turfgrass is a great groundcover for people and pets . We need to tell the story about how we care for and install lawns and turfgrass for the correct uses and in the right environment .
