"A few months later, I found the Farnham Riverside commission’s open call advertised in the SSS e-bulletin and I talked about it with Natalie. We decided to present a proposal as an artist duo.  There were three projects shortlisted from about 15 artists, and after the feasibility phase presentations, we were selected!”

And so it began: a celebration of Farnham as a World Craft Town, its historical architecture and industries.    A Hand’s Turn, which is now installed next to the Maltings in Farnham, was inspired by several interlinking ideas.  The piles of grain which would go through the malting process, the traditional roofs used in hop-drying, the spindles used for spinning wool, the shapes of pottery vessels and the architectural repetitions of the façade and roofs of the Maltings, listed building overlooking the area where the installation is now a feature of local life.
