BOILERS & MAINTENANCE Lanemark brings proven process heating to small brewery sector The specialist processing needs that are central to the growing number of mini- and micro-breweries in the UK all have a number of production methods and objectives in common – with accurate, controllable vessel heating always high on the list. Lanemark Combustion Engineering Ltd. has been at the heart of this scenario for many years with its range of gas fired process tank heating (TX) small diameter immersion tube burner systems – which can operate using either natural or propane gas. The designs are used in particular with vertical cylindrical coppers and hot liquor tanks in, typically, 5 to 80 UK barrels (80 to 130 hectolitres) brewing enterprises. “Gas offers clear-cut economies of use compared to alternatives such as electricity or steam,” says Lanemark Sales Director Jeff Foster. “In all cases, our designs comprise a burner firing through the wall into a submerged, small bore tubular heat exchanger to achieve heating that is both evenly distributed and, typically, in excess of 80% efficient.” Because brewing vessels are often cylindrical, Lanemark has also developed a helical coil tube design which sits on the base of the tank and follows the curved wall in a circular layout. Accuracy of control is optimised via Lanemark’s optional modulating temperature/gas input controls which allow the brewer to maintain the ideal rolling boil brewing temperature. Importantly, all Lanemark burner designs can be supplied complete with Lanemark’s BurnerCare support service. Ranging from installation, commissioning and service and maintenance scheduling to a rapid response call out facility, it translates into genuine peace of mind for all users across the sector.
