ACA 122-College Transfer Success is a course designed to provide information as well as strategies for students to develop their academic and professional goals at and beyond the community college. Students establish short-term and long-term goals, explore the mission statement not only of the community college but the 4-year institution where they plan to transfer. While it does address student success strategies such as study skills and test taking tips, it centers on strategic planning, critical thinking, and communication skills students find necessary as students transition from the 2-year institution to the 4-year institution. Students explore the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) that outlines which courses transfer as general education and premajor courses; students also create a 2-year course schedule. They explore the cost to attend the 4-year institution and discuss scholarship and financial aid limitations when paying for college. With so much information, RCC advisors recommend students enroll in ACA 122 early in their community college career as the required assignments are reinforced in other college-transfer courses. ACA 122 may be taken face-to- face, in a hybrid format, or an online format. YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISOR IS KEY TO SUCCESS By Gaylyn Eddy Why should I meet with my advisor?
