5th and 6th grade Tackle Football Donates to New Sound System

By Shari Everhart
Decidedly it was time for an upgrade of the sound system at the Southeast Valley Junior High School football field at Burnside . The antiquated system was made up of various parts and it was a challenge for the game announcer to do a play-by-play with the wires requiring to be bent in a certain way in order for it to work .
So , the 5th and 6th grade tackle football decided if there were any funds left over from their fundraiser , it would be donated toward a new sound system at the field . As it turned out , the Athletic Boosters matched the $ 500 the tackle football were able to donate for a total amount
of $ 1,000 to give to the school with the district paying the balance . By pooling their monies , tackle football and Athletic Boosters were able to generously give to the sound system project .
It was noted that Southeast Valley School Superintendent Brian Johnson had the same system installed in the new gym at the high school building making both sound systems compatible .
According to Joe Tuel who headed up the project , “ It was a very nice upgrade for the junior high track and football programs that was well overdue .”
