The caller had taken one of the Narcan trainings she set up weeks before and had just used Narcan, an opioid antidote, to save a life. “I had this overwhelming feeling about having had a part in that, but sad too,” she said. At the Town Board meeting on Dec. 1, LoCicero, who also serves as the Wallkill Board of Education President, gave an update on the readiness of his new department. While a minimal amount of snowfall has arrived in the town through the first week of December, the agency ably dealt with the slick roads that resulted from two days of battering rain last week. The new highway head, who bested challenger Paul Taylor in the Republican caucus in September and then ran unopposed for the superintendent seat in November’s general election, also revealed that the highway truck that overturned on Oregon Trail in July has now been repaired. The vehicle has been deemed roadworthy, but the town still plans to replace the truck in the long term.
