The Cayman Islands’ Folk Singers is a company of amateur (unpaid) singers and musicians primarily dedicated to preserving, celebrating and propagating the musical traditions of the Cayman Islands. The company was started in 2009 as part of Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s (CNCF) mission to stimulate, develop, preserve and celebrate the arts and culture of the Cayman Islands. The company exists to bring to the people of the Cayman Islands folk music works of the highest possible artistic and technical standards and production values, works that are reflective of the Caymanian image and appreciative of our place in the Caribbean region and the wider world. The Company’s repertoire consists, predominantly of Caymanian folk and traditional songs and music. CNCF seeks to unearth the many Caymanian songs (and the stories behind them) that exist in the Cayman communities. The repertoire also includes folk/traditional songs and music from Caribbean and global communities. 138
