Chriscila was born in St. Andrews, Grenada. In 2000 she moved to Vancouver to live with her
mother. She enjoys writing short stories and poems based on her own experience growing
up in the Caribbean as well as other people's Caribbean history and experience.
“ I took an interest in this kind of writing because when I was growing up my grandmother
would sit around a fire at night telling *Anansi stories and Jumbi stories. I believe that where
we come from is a key part of who we are and I want to keep those stories of where and how I
grew up alive, for my children and grandchildren.”
*Anansi Stories - stories about spider-god, Anansi (a trickster) were first told in Ghana by the Ashanti
people. These stories were told usually told by the older people in the community. They were passed on from
generatoin to generation. and brought to the Caribbean by the slaves.
*Jumbie Stories - ghost stories
