Lunch at “The Circus” in St. Kitts
E
ver had the spontaneous idea to leave your
island and head to another, just to have
lunch? If so, you’ll understand this little tale
of mine.
One day, this idea popped into my head: why not
have lunch in St. Kitts? After all, I’d never been
there before. Living in Barbados, St. Kitts was
one of those islands I’d always casually dismissed
as being “way up north.” Sure, it’s 178 square km
of lush rain forest, crystal beaches, and majestic
volcano plus the 93 square km of sister island
Nevis boasting its own exciting story (at one
point it was the leeward islands’ slave trading
headquarters!), but it was still ¨way up there¨
Nevertheless, on my next weekend, I set my
hesitation aside, hopped on a plane, and ventured
“up north”.
(One of the perks of being a pilot in the Caribbean is the
freedom to travel in the region once seats are available,
so I take advantage of this as often as possible!)
