OUR FIGHT IN 2021

As our communities battle the coronavirus , 2020 feels like a lost year — one defined , at times , by what did not occur rather than what did . The global pandemic could not , however , slow the November General Election or curb the crush of politicians angling to secure precious votes at every level of government . Both national and local results have serious implications for aerospace companies doing business in Washington State .

Until this year , serious political candidates could usually rely on walking door-todoor to personally contact as many voters as possible . This year , shaking hands and directly answering questions from those they hope to represent was not possible , replaced instead by virtual fundraisers , direct mail communications , phone banks , television ads , and social media .
AFA SPOTLIGHT
The Aerospace Futures Alliance took this reality in stride and leveraged our deep relationships with key lawmakers to make sure the aerospace industry was well represented and on every lawmaker ’ s mind as they prepared for the Washington State 2021 Legislative Session . This included attending virtual campaign events , fielding calls from hopeful candidates , and identifying the issues that must be preserved or expanded for our industry to continue flourish .
Fortunately , AFA members not only provide the financial underpinnings of our state ’ s economy , but they also are leaders in making our communities better places to live , work , and raise a family . This makes the process of educating and reminding lawmakers of the prominence of the aerospace industry in our state a relatively straight forward thing to do .
