One-Day Kids Programs
Exploring the Dark | Ages 11-15
Roast your dinner over a campfire, make s’mores for dessert,
then head out on the trail for a hike through the night with
your friends! Discover the way your senses react in the dark
with fun activities, games and night hike challenges. Min/Max:

Survival Scenarios | Ages 9-14
Surrounded by the unknown how do you survive!? Learn how
to make a kit that will help you survive in a variety of different
wilderness scenarios. Min/Max is 6/15.

Aliens Among Us | Ages 6-10
Are they from outer space? Be an alien detective and help us
find out where some of these alien creatures come from and
what they are doing in our prairie, forest, and pond at Heller.
Participants who sign up for Silly Science may bring a sack lunch
and stay at Heller between programs. Min/Max is 6/15.

Silly Science | Ages 6-10
Get your hands dirty with oozy gooey science! Make your very
own slime, watch elephant toothpaste grow, and see how
we can make lava explode. Participants who sign up for Aliens

After School Programs
Mini Adventure Skills | Grades 2-6
Harvest greens and berries from the forest while also learning
how to cook with them. Decipher topographic maps and learn
to use a real compass. Try your hand at making a wilderness
shelter from various materials. Try one adventure or try them
all. These programs are entirely outdoors so please dress for the
weather. 4 weeks. Min/Max is 6/12. No class Sep 19 & Nov.21.

One-Day Adult Programs
Brunch and Learn Nature Workshop Series
| Seniors
Enjoy a delicious catered brunch followed by a fun and
informative hands-on workshop, discussion or walk.
These programs are sponsored by Comfort Keepers in
Wheeling and are presented in cooperation with the Highland
Park and Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Senior Centers.
