Concessions Sustainability Program
The Airports Authority launched a program aimed at improving sustainability among its concessionaires . This voluntary program evaluates participants in the following categories : commitment and awareness ; waste reduction and diversion ; energy usage ; water usage and conservation ; air quality and emissions ; and social responsibility .
The following businesses at Dulles International Airport were recognized as Green Concessions in September 2022 :
• Five Guys Burgers and Fries , operated by MEM Enterprises in Concourse B , for purchasing environmentally friendly products and their use of receipt paper free of certain industrial chemicals
• Devils Backbone Restaurant , operated by HMS Host in Concourse C , for minimizing single-use plastics , implementing a food donation program and using Energy Star appliances
• Washington Burgundy and Gold Club , operated by HMS Host in Concourse B , for training employees on sustainable practices , adopting paperless receipt options , and recycling their fryer oil
• Starbucks locations operated by HMS Host in the main terminal and concourses A , C and D , for practicing water conservation , using Energy Star appliances , using recycled goods and using receipt paper free of certain industrial chemicals
Certified program participants are provided decals that are posted to store fronts making them east to identity .
