Your professional approach to hair color services is as important as your color creation. Protect yourself and your guests by following these color consultation guidelines for preliminary allergy alert testing. STEP ONE: PROFESSIONAL COLOR CONSULTATION The consultation is your opportunity to demonstrate your professional expertise, explain to your guests the spectrum of color products available, and recommend which service is the best for them to indulge their color craving. As part of your professional color consultation, follow our short questionnaire. STEP TWO: PERFORM A PRELIMINARY ALLERGY ALERT TEST As a result of step one you may need to carry out a preliminary allergy alert test. PRELIMINARY ALLERGY ALERT TEST: STOP STOP WARNING WARNING WARNING Has your salon guest had any type of skin tattoo including henna or permanent makeup since their last color service? NO YES WARNING Warning, carry out a preliminary allergy test (see step 2) Has your salon guest had an allergic reaction to anything since their last color service? NO YES WARNING Warning, carry out a preliminary allergy test (see step 2) Does your salon guest have a sensitive, itchy or damaged scalp? Is this a new color guest for your salon? Has it been more than six months since your salon guest last had a color service in your salon? Explain to your salon guest that you cannot color their hair Explain to your salon guest that you cannot color their hair Warning, carry out a preliminary allergy test (see step 2) Warning, carry out a preliminary allergy test (see step 2) 1. Cleanse an area the size of a nickel behind either ear, touching the hairline. Pat dry. 2. Apply the ACTUAL COLOR MIXTURE YOU INTEND TO USE, INCLUDING DEVELOPER to the test area. 3. Let process for the intended processing time, rinse and pat dry. 4. Do not wash or rinse for 48 hours. If no reaction has occurred, proceed with process.
