4 THINGS By Lynsey Fraser EVERY GYM NEEDS TO DO ON SOCIAL MEDIA S ocial Media has revolutionised the way we can market our businesses and connect with potential new customers. It’s an ever-changing world and it can be tricky to know what to do. Here are 4 simple tips for gym owners and health clubs to focus on for their social media channels . up your page 1 Clean hygiene This is really simple but we see so many Businesses not keeping a regular check on their page details and links. Check your Social Media channels are all set up with your correct opening times, contact details, email addresses etc. On your Facebook page, make sure that your call to action button on the first page has the most useful contact details on it and that your “About” section is properly filled in and p to date. Check the tabs down the side of the page for any old or missing links that might have expired. On Instagram, check the details in your bio are correct and that your profile is set up as a business profile to allow you to place a call to action button at the top of your account with your email, phone number and location. up a few channels 2 Pick and do them well Your Social Media channels can be one of the first places your potential customers are checking when learning more about your business so you want to make a good first impression! If you spread yourself too thin and fail to maintain or update your channels with regular content then you are not giving the best impression of your business. Just pick one or two channels and do them well – a Facebook Fan Page is always our first choice as it the most popular social media channels and has the best advertising options too. value, not 3 Offer adverts Keep the content on your page useful and valuable to your potential customer and current customers. The things you post on a regular basis should be one of three things – educational, inspirational or entertaining - your customers are not using social media to be sold to, it’s like saying people watch television for the commercials. Try and make the majority of your posts about relevant topics and adding more value to your customers ( examples here would be – tips on training, healthy WHAT’S NEW IN FITNESS - AUTUMN 2018 recipes, useful blogs or inspiring quotes or memes) and less about trying to sell to them. some ‘Behind the 4 Show Scences’ People are interested in people and social media should be social! Show some of the behind the scenes stuff from your facility. It could be some pictures of your team training together or trying a new workout, it could be showing examples of how the PT’s prep their food or celebrating the wins of some of your team. Have fun with your social media and keep it social, it’s a great place to reflect your businesses personality and engage your members – it doesn’t have to be polished and scripted – just honest interaction.
