Dear Friends ,

We blinked , and we are already nearing the end of 2023 . What an incredible and accomplished year we have had in the Libraries .

We continue to advance the Libraries , supporting critical research and securing funding for essential improvements to our spaces for staff and library users . We ’ ve hosted several thought-provoking events with our Friends of the Libraries , displayed beautiful and informative exhibits , and continue to partner on many initiatives with our peers from other institutions , including the Big Ten Academic Alliance . Our work with these organizations ensures our users access to the powerful resources and services that propel research and education .

We are also collaborating with campus as the search for the next Vice Provost for Libraries continues . Special thanks to library staff , close faculty partners , and shared governance members who have served . Jordan Zweck , Associate Professor of English in the College of Letters and Science and member of LRC-ASH , chairs the VPL Search Committee . Search committee members include Ariel Andrea , research services manager , Steenbock Agricultural Library , General Library ; Christopher Hooper-Lane , library director , Health Sciences Library , School of Medicine and Public Health ; Rania Huntington , professor of Asian Languages and Cultures , College of Letters & Science ; Jay Ray , technology operations manager , College Library , General Library . The search firm Isaacson Miller is assisting with the recruitment .

We appreciate the time and dedication of the committee and look forward to sharing more soon .

As we near the end of this calendar year , it is wonderful to look back and see the tremendous accomplishments , partnerships , and work achieved by our excellent staff here in the Libraries . We are excited to see what 2024 brings .
