Letter from the President
The NCSTIIID President’s message at the 2019 Annual Meeting in Coronado Springs, FL, was inspired by the fact that we were less than an hour from Cape Canaveral, also known as the Kennedy Space Center.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, is consistent in their mission “to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research.” Inside that mission, At Cape Canaveral, they have grown from the Mercury Program, launching the first manned space flight, to the Apollo Program, landing a man on the moon, to the Space Shuttle Program and the continued work with the International Space Station. Within each iteration, NASA adapted. As technology advanced, knowledge grew, and needs changed, so did the names of the programs, yet the mission remained the same. Even more important than the change is the fact that, throughout the change, everyone working toward the mission agreed that, “failure is not an option.”
