Suppliers
honoured
– by Hinterland
T
he picturesque setting of Le
Souvenir in Klerksdorp was a
fitting venue for Hinterland
to pay homage and say thank you to
our suppliers for their patronage and
support during the past financial year.
The theme of the evening was ele-
gantly formal and the amazing talents
of former Idols winner and platinum
producing singer/song writer, Elvis Blue
added to the engaging atmosphere on
the night.
In addressing the suppliers on the
night, Hinterland MD, Daan Bronk-
horst said that “in line with the Hinterland
slogan, which refers to rediscovering what
really matters; what matters to the Hinter-
land team is to manage our relationships
with our suppliers to ensure profitability
for both parties. Our niche is the platteland
and the agri-sector, and while we strive to
combine big-city slickness in terms of tech-
nology, products and service, our hearts
and minds will always remain humble and
helpful in true platteland fashion.”
Daan also encouraged suppliers to conti-
nue to adopt new technology.
”Our producers are among the fastest
adopters of precision farming technolo-
gy in the world and their reputation for
performing miracles in terms of high yields
from tough soil and weather conditions is
well-established. In this light I want to en-
courage our suppliers to continue to push
There were five suppliers who achieved
more than the ideal target of 80% against
the indicated criteria, namely:
the boundaries of technology in your own
areas of product and service excellence. “ • Montego Pet Nutrition
Make no mistake, ladies and gentleman,
we, you and us, are in the vital business
of providing sustained food security in our
country. And to remain ahead of the game,
we need to live at the forefront of techno-
logy - whether it is in developing the latest
veterinary, fertiliser or fuel solution, or the
best point of sale or accounting solution. • Titan Tools
The highlight of the evening was when
Hinterland’s first Service Excellence awards
were handed out to the top five suppliers
who were judged by Hinterland branches
against certain criteria. The criteria included
supplier involvement with internal branch
activations or expos, branch visits, supplier
EDI linkage, supplier involvement with
exclusive offers and marketing offers to
Hinterland and a few other service-related
criteria.
• Stonehenge in Africa
• My Wardrobe Promotions
• Ascendis Animal Health
(formerly Cipla Animal Health)
Daan said that the awards were an impor-
tant means to demonstrate the importance
of suppliers to Hinterland’s business.
“With the advent of the digital age, online
sales and global markets allowing con-
sumers to literally buy anything they want
from any corner of the world, the experts
of retail have decided that right now, the
customer will only come back to you based
on the experience they’ve had during the
contact with your brand. This is why it is
important for us at Hinterland to convey
how much this event really means to us.”
