A good rule of thumb is to get your rug cleaned every 6-12 months ( depending on traffic , pets , and style of rug ) as to avoid any permanent damage . Many times , clients wait until they visually see a rug dirty before they decide to get it cleaned . Even if a rug doesn ’ t look dirty , you should have it professionally cleaned .
Vacuuming removes most top soils from the surface of the rug but cannot reach the bottom . Millions of microscopic dust particles , soil , and bacteria settle at the bottom of the rug which then start causing damage from within . Think of it as sand between your fingers . It acts as sandpaper rubbing and grinding away at the base of the fibers .
You can always email us with pictures of your rug so we can easily identify it - handmade , machine made , or synthetic . This will help you further understand what your rug needs are and what we can do to give it the proper cleaning .
