ONE WEEK ITINERARY

IN FRENCH RIVIERA

AND PROVENCE

South of France has everything for a memorable summer escape: the turquoise water and exquisite beaches, the picturesque seaside towns, the endless lavender fields are only a few of the things that are making this region so special.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer remains my favorite town of French Riviera. The picturesque pastel colored houses rising up behind the clear and turquoise water, the romantic walks exploring the old town and the beautiful Marinières beach are just a few of the reasons which make this town so special. Villefranche-Sur-Mer is easily accessible from Nice like all the other towns by bus or by train. The public transport between the coastal towns is very affordable, the price for a bus ticket (for any town) is EUR 1,5 or EUR 1 if you take a 10 pass.

The food

One of the most popular among the local specialties are moules, pizza and pasta, wine and ice-cream.

In Villefranche-Sur-Mer we ate at Le Cosmo (Address: 11 Place Amélie Pollonais, 06230 Villefranche-sur-Mer, France) and Le Glacier 16, for ice-cream ( Address: 16 Rue du Poilu, 06230 Villefranche-sur-Mer, France)

Lavender field in Sault

When I am thinking of Provence the first thing that pops into my mind is lavender fields. Visiting this region during summer is a real delight and a memorable experience. The flowering season is generally from mid June to early July. Around the town of Sault, being a higher altitude region, the flowering season starts later, from early July to early August. On August 15th each year Sault celebrates the Lavender Festival. Since we went on this trip at the end of July, we caught some amazing lavender field around this region.
