MAA ’ s Annual Meeting on Tuesday , November 28 , 2023 was a resounding success . Nearly 200 members , including a great showing of past presidents , met at the German Club in Walpole , MA . As always , the meeting provided an opportunity for learning , professional development , and networking within the arboriculture community .

MAA president , Kevin Cleveland , MCA , gave an overview of association activities ( see President ’ s Message page 3 ). He thanked his fellow board members , and the management team , for a successful year and outlined plans for MAA to continue to build a strong , interconnected arborist community in Massachusetts .

Speaker Aaron Palmateer , Ph . D . of Harrell ’ s , Inc ., addressed the evolving challenges posed by climate change on plant health care strategies . He shared insights and discussed innovative approaches to adapting PHC in a shifting climate . The need for resilient species selection and proactive management practices took center stage . The importance of community involvement and education emerged as a theme , emphasizing the role of professional arborists in fostering the role of trees in mitigating the effects of climate change .
