Volume 5 August 2019 The college is turning 60 in 2020 Remember Your First… D o you know what the Beatles, Dallas Cowboys and EFSC have in common? They all turn 60 years old in 2020! As the college gears up for an exciting 60th celebration, the Foundation is eager to plan activities that include our Alumni. Beginning December 2019, we will kick-off our campaign “Remember your first…” Whether you attended BJC, BCC, or EFSC, it was likely your first college experience. We intend to highlight 60 Alumni, conduct campus tours celebrating our new and innovative programs, reminisce past accomplishments, and bring back our retirees and distinguished alumni for celebratory activities. As this is our diamond anniversary, diamonds will be involved. This is just a sampling of the ideas we have in the works for you. What we need from you is to please participate in our events and activities. It will not be a celebration without you. One final note. We have an incredibly BIG SURPISE that you will not want to miss. Details to follow. Stay tuned! 60 NEW Scholarships to celebrate EFSC’s 60th Anniversary T he EFSC Foundation has set a lofty goal! In honor of Eastern Florida State College’s 60th anniversary in 2020, we are looking to start 60 new scholarships. YES 60. Have you considered a scholarship to honor a loved one? Is there a specific program that you would like to support? Maybe there is a special professor who needs a scholarship devoted to them? Would you like to contribute to the 60th Anniversary Scholarship for $60? All these ideas are ways to support the EFSC Foundation Scholarship program. Each semester, we have many students who need financial support that the Foundation does not have funding to provide. Director’s Minute Dear Titan Friends, An education is the most precious gift you can offer. That is why the work at the Foundation is so important to this college community. The students who work the hardest, go the extra mile, and embrace opportunities are the most likely to excel in this world. Yet many of these ambitious, high achieving students need scholarship support to realize their dreams. You can make a dream come true. This past year, the Foundation awarded over 700 students a scholarship to support their education. What you may not know is that over 2,300 students applied. EFSC has a goal to remove the financial obstacles that keep students from achieving an education. We are calling on YOU to open the doors to a dynamic. As we reflect on all that we are grateful for, YOU are on the top of our list. As one of the most affordable colleges in our nation, your donation has a tremendous impact stretching your dollar even further. Every little bit counts. If you are interested in supporting student scholarships or other college initiatives, please contact our offices at 321-433-7055. Thank you, Jennie Kriete Director, EFSC Foundation P.S.
