Cottonwood Connections March 2024

March 2024

District Director Notes - Jay Harris

I have been in my role as the District Director for the Cottonwood Extension District for almost one full year now. I have seen some significant changes and some things that have stayed the same. This includes:  personnel, executive board and happenings in the district. When I came on board we had two 4-H Youth Development agents, two Agriculture and Natural Resource agents, one Family and Community Wellness agent and two office professionals. We have added an additional Family and Community Wellness agent to the team. We have one new person on our Executive Board. Our agents have been busy with programs and activities getting out in the public and following the mission that we at K-State Research and Extension strive for every day. “K-State Research and Extension is committed to expanding human capacity by delivering educational programs and technical information that result in improved leadership skills in the areas of communication, group dynamics, conflict resolution, issue analysis, and strategic planning that can enhance the economic viability and quality of life in communities.”

A supportive team, committed Executive Board and collaborative community mindset has made the Cottonwood Extension District a great place to be employed. I count my blessings daily for our amazing team. Our impact is strong, allowing innovation and experience to work side-by-side as we strive to deliver trusted information and education into the hands of local community members. Extension came to life when our land-grant universities realized the secret to success is at the heart of our nation – empowering local people with practical education and tools to make everyday life and business more efficient and impactful. Extension continues to be resilient. Every day our Cottonwood Extension District team shows up to serve with you and for you. We are inspired by your perseverance to ask questions, adapt to changing practices, and above all, work together to be stronger today than yesterday.
