FEATURED EVENTS Lights Out for Sea Turtles Through Oct. 31 The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources reports that Kiawah’s 2019 nesting season totaled 575 nests - a record for the island! While many turtles have already hatched, the beach is still home to many nests. The nesting season rules on beach lighting continue through Oct. 31. No exterior lighting or flashlights are permitted on the beach from 9 p.m. to dawn during this time. Visit KiawahIsland.org for complete information on the town’s ordinance. KIAWAH CARES PADDLE FOR PEDALS NEW DATE - SATURDAY, OCT. 5 | 1:30 P.M. Rescheduled due to Hurricane Dorian, there’s still time to sign up for this great event. Hop on a stand-up paddle board or a kayak and paddle Kiawah’s Cinder Creek for a good cause. You’ll paddle to specific destinations, pick up a playing card and build your poker hand in this paddle poker run. Your participation and entry fee of $85 will fund the giveaway of a bicycle to a student at Angel Oak Elementary School. Afterward, swing by the Cinder Creek pavilion for a refreshing happy hour with live music, libations and hors d’oeuvres. The winning hand will take home a bicycle and kayak!
