NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Not only do we have a new home (!) and not only are we celebrating F I F T Y Y E A R S in 2020, but we also have a new tagline! In 2014, NSSRA underwent significant re-branding to better reflect who we are as an organization and how we strive to serve our participants, families, staff and community. NSSRA's logo reflects the consistent and trustworthy presence of NSSRA in the lives of its participants and their families; the energy and passion staff bring to programs and services; and the life and growth NSSRA participants experience every day in programs. These are core foundations of NSSRA. Similarly, we want NSSRA’s tagline to reflect those same values. In just a few words, NSSRA’s new tagline, “Play, Grow, Belong,” communicates the journey that participants and families experience as part of the NSSRA community. Play is the entry point for each individual, with the goal that every participant will both grow and find a place to belong, not just in programs, but in NSSRA’s 13 partner communities, with staff and with each other. Donate to Our 2020 Shining Stars Dress Drive Help NSSRA participants look and feel their best for our 2020 Shining Stars Banquet when we’ll be celebrating our 50th anniversary as an agency! NSSRA is collecting new and gently used cocktail and formal dresses, as well as suit coats and ties, now through April 1, 2020. Details: Dresses, suit coats and ties must be clean and in good condition. We are looking for dresses and suit coats in all shapes and sizes. Donation Locations: Items can be dropped off at the NSSRA office (3105 MacArthur Blvd., Northbrook) or to D&R Autoworks (1454 Old Deerfield Rd, Highland Park). NSSRA will donate any items that cannot be used to a local thrift store. 16 Meet Brian Romes We’re thrilled to welcome Brian Romes, Park District of Highland Parks' newly-minted Executive Director, to NSSRA’s Board of Directors! Big things are ahead for us in Highland Park, and we couldn’t be more excited to work together. Welcome, Brian! Join NSSRA's Associate Board The NSSRA Associate Board unites young professionals to advance NSSRA’s purpose: to enrich the lives of people with disabilities in its partner communities through quality recreation services. The Board is comprised of energetic individuals to raise awareness and support of NSSRA’s programs and services to the direct benefit of participants. If you are a young professional in your twenties or thirties, passionate about serving people with disabilities or giving back to your community, join us! The next Associate Board meeting will be held in early 2020. To learn more or get involved, please contact Rebekah Lee, Manager of Marketing & Communications, at [email protected].
