COLLEGE LAUNCHES CONSULTATION ON LEGISLATIVE REFORM PROPOSALS College Council welcomes your input on a proposal to modernize the regulation of veterinary medicine in Ontario. “Council is both excited and proud to open the public consultation on this tremendous project,” said College President Dr. Marc Marin. “The existing Veterinarians Act has become a barrier to good and sound regulatory practices. The public expects transparency in our processes and also to have choice in some animal health care activities. The proposed changes address the areas where the current aging legislation falls short. We look forward to hearing what the public and the profession think of the proposal.” The draft proposal “Achieving a Modern Approach to the Regulation of Veterinary Medicine in Ontario” is now open for consultation. The document provides an in-depth review of each of 19 proposed concepts. The consultation is open until October 20, 2017. direct access to animal health care activities such as massage therapy and manual therapy Summer 2017 Vol. 33 No. 2 ISSN 0821-6320 FEATURED • Increasing the information on the College’s Public Register Your guide to Quality Practice • Introducing a mandatory quality assurance program for veterinarians This issue of College Connection explores the College’s latest quality practice initiatives.
