BEST BAR NONE CERTIFIES CALGARY ’ S SAFEST BARS Best Bar None is an accreditation program operated through collaboration among the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission , the City of Calgary and Calgary Police . “ It recognizes leading bar operations that recognize the importance of safety , customer service and being a good neighbour ,” says David Young , Best Bar None program coordinator . “ It is a service to your guests when you create a safe environment .”
To receive accreditation , an applying bar must satisfy more than 100 best practices , which cover issues including responsible liquor service , security , harassment , sanitation , noise , emergency situations and more . Accredited bars that exceed these high standards are eligible for annual Best Bar None awards .
The fact that a bar has received accreditation evidences they want to provide an experience beyond simply serving alcohol to a paying public . Since the program was launched in Calgary in 2012 , over two dozen bars have received accreditation .
